Neena Gupta, an award-winning actress, is all set to come out with a memoir which is a no-holds barred account of her personal and professional life. This was announced by Penguin Random House India, a publishing house, on Thursday.
The memoirs, ‘Sach Kahun To’ will chronicle the life of this controversial and talented actress. You will get a glimpse of her childhood that was spent in Karol Bagh in Delhi, time spent in NSD (National Scholl of Drama), her move to Mumbai in the 1980’s and also her struggle to find work. This will be published under ‘Ebury Press’ of Penguin.
The career span of Neena Gupta is 35 years, this award-winning actress made her mark in movies that include ‘Trikal’, ‘Mandi’, and ‘Utsav’. This was in the 80’s. She won popularity with the TV shows of 1998. These included ‘Siski’, and ‘Saans’. In 2000 the pace of work seemed to have slowed down. She bounced back to the limelight with hits like ‘Mulk’ by Anubhav Sinha and ‘Badhai Ho’ by Amit Sharma in the year 2018.
Neena Gupta, a 61 year old actress, spent time in Mukteshwar in Uttarkhand during the lockdown. It was during this time that she reflected and relived the journey of her life.
In Uttarkhand she used to take long walks every day and enjoy nature with the chirping of the birds and feel the chill mountain breeze. This ‘alone’ time made her decide why should she write a book. She contemplated whether what she said could help and inspire anyone.
She added that her life was full of incidents that not only made her but also broke her and she needed to get this out of her system so that she can feel better and lighter.
She added that via this book of her she wanted her readers to be aware that despite her broken relationships, her flaws and the circumstances in her life she could get up and get going and look good at the same time. Her readers can also do so.
The publishers state that this book is a candid, self-deprecating portrait of the person behind the curtain of the persona. She has been open about her unconventional pregnancy, single parenthood and final her second innings in Bollywood. Neena Gupta and Cricketer, Vivian Rcihards had a brief affair in the 80’s. They are parent of the celebrated designer, Masaba. Masaba was raised by Neena Gupta for a very long time, before the actress decided to take the plunge to a chartered accountant based in Delhi, Vivek Mehra, in the year 2008.
The senior commissioning editor of Penguin, Gurveen Chadha, says that Neena Gupta has been a treasure and Gurveen is a big fan of all the work of this famous actress. Gurven admisres her as according to her, Neena can drop truth bombs with complete poise. This can be her views on motherhood, or even on an actor who is out of work, seeking roles.
