KL Rahul had expertly paced his 132 runs off 69 balls and was not out. This is the highest score by an Indian in the IPL, so far. This was also the fourth-highest overall. These runs can be termed as the ‘centerpiece’ of the KXIP 206 for 3. They managed to flatten the RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) in Dubai in the 6th match of the IPL2020

Rahul had raised his first fifty of only 36 balls. The second fifty was made in only 26 balls. During this course, Rahul was reprieved by Virat Kohli two times in the outfield in the 17th and also the 18th over.

After he was dropped the second time, Rahul managed to tear into Dale Steyn and also Shivam Dube at the cracking 42 off only nine balls.

As the target was steep, the batting order was jigged by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).  Josh Phillipe was put on No.3 but unfortunately, they crashed to 4 for only 3, followed by 57 for 5. The left armer, Sheldon Cottrell crashed out and was followed by Devdutt Padikkal and also Virat Kohli for one each. The twin leg-spinners of KXIP, Ravi Bishnoi and M Ashwin were able to exploit the line-up of the Royal Challengers to bring them down to a mere 109 in 17 over’s.

Profilic Kings X1, profligate RCB:

Umesh Yadav had allowed Rahul and Mayank Agarwal to get easy by bowling looseners down leg-side. Steyn, on the other hand, had pushed the ball wide off and Rahul managed to hit fours back-to-back.

Rahul at the Top-gear:

Rahul could ensure that his side breached 200, aided by his 2 drops. He went on a rampage with 6, 4, 6, 6 4 against Steyn and hit Dube for 4, 6, 6 and capped the innings. He also managed to snatch the ‘orange’ cap that is normally reserved for the leading run-scorer of the tournament. In the last four overs, KXIP hit 74 runs.

Saini can bowl Yorkers at a speed of more than 104kph and at the same time, cut his pace down. He bowled only one over and Sundar, only two over’s for 13 runs.

Winning was Tough:

For the Royal Challengers to beat 207, it was important that they play strong from the very first ball. This was not to be as Cottrell struck twice in his 1st two over’s. Finch was jumping outside leg to make Bishnoi off his lines and lengths.

Rahul matched up Ashwin with De Villiers and ensured he carved a catch tio sweeper cover for 28 runs of 18 balls.

Besides de Villiers and Finch, Sundar was the only batsman of the Royal Challengers to pass 15 as the middle and the lower order was into focus.

Bishnoi and Ashwin managed three wickets each, applying the final touches.

The record-breaking century of Rahul set up a thumping victory for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in this one-sided game.
