Nicholas Pooran

The highest wicket taker in this game was Rashid Khan after Jonny Bairstow had top scored with 97 and David Warner, who made 52, hit his second half century in this IPL season.SRH registered a comprehensive win against KXIP in Dubai on 08/10/2020.

SRH scored 201 for 6 wickets in 20 over’s. In reply to this score, KXIP were all out for 132 in 16.5 over’s.  SRH had won the toss and decided on batting first against KXIP in this 22nd match of the IPL2020 in Dubai.

KXIP were chasing 201 and Rahul was stuck on 11 runs off 14 balls. He was first involved in a run-out with Mayank Agarwal. He did not look to attack any of the 14 deliveries that he faced before top-edging a sweep off Abhishek Sharma, the left-arm spinner at square leg to Kane Williamson. By this time there was high pressure on KXIP.

This sedate approach of his was linked to captaincy and explained the reason batting through was important as the middle order had not fired till then in the tournament. This change of approach by Rahul is visible since the time he struck 132 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in his second game.

Rahul further states that the strike rate is overrated and for him it is important to make sure his team wins the match. He stated that he takes responsibility as a leader and if he feels that in a specific match he needs 120, he would go for it.

Rahul agreed in making mistakes as a batter and a leader. He states that it is a partnership when you are in a batting group. As stated, he feels every player has different roles to play in a team and these roles tend to change with each game.

Talking about Pooran, he plays the test match shots and at the same time holds his own in the arena of the T20.

The first ball he faced was thumped through the covers. This was sheer timing and flexing of a bottom hand that is really strong. The result was three straight sixes. This was due to being able to pick up the length early and a glorious swing of the bat.  Pooran entered his name in the record books after the half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai on Thursday. He scored 77 runs of 37 balls.

For the time Pooran was at the crease he could maintain a strike rate that was above 200. Even then it seemed that he was playing well within himself.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman is normally at No.11 for Afghanistan but for the KXIP he walked in at No. 7. This indicated the miserable state of the team presently. He was given out, caught behind in the 14th over, off Khaleel Ahmad. The umpires on-field checked with the third umpire for a clean catch and bump ball, the third umpire deemed the batsman out.
