The IPL campaign for RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) started with a win. This team managed to beat SRH (Sunrisers Hyderabad) by a margin of 10 runs. Devdutt Padikka was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
The toss was won by the Sunrisers Hyderabad and they chose to field.
The openers for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were Finch and Devdutt Pndikka, who took the strike. The first overworked well for Bhuvnesh Kumar who gave only 2 runs.
Devdutt, on the other hand, played confidently and also managed a couple of boundaries. Of the 32 runs made, Devdutt had scored 29 of the first 4 overs.
Mitchell Marsh had to limp off the field after four deliveries as he had hurt his ankle. Vijay Shankar took over.
Aaron Finch and Devdutt finished 50 runs after which RCB got their trump card, Rashid Khan as the bowler.
Devdutt also managed to make 50 in this match and this was a milestone for him. He got out at 56.
After Finch and Devdutt got out back to back, de Villiers and Kohli took the strike.
The first inning came to an end with AB de Villiers and Devdutt, both making half centuries. Sunrisers now needed 164 runs to win the match. This was a poor score. The opening batsmen for SRH were David Warner and Jonny Bairstow.
In the first over itself, David Warner managed six runs. This was an indication of the things to come. With Bairstow trying to hit, managed to get Warner out. Boundaries by Manish Pandey were what helped the run rate. Umesh Yadav was badly thrashed with 10 runs off an over.
Kohli was worried with the partnership of Pandey and Bairstow.
This turned out to be an interesting match as there were chances of both the teams making it work for them. The 50-run partnership between Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey was what troubled Virat Kohli.
Aaron Finch dropped the catch of Bairstow when he had made 42 runs. This would work out costly for RCB.
Chahal managed to break the partnership and he was supposedly trump card for Kohli. Manish Pandey could not connect well and it was an easy catch for Navdeep Saini.
Bairstow managed to get his 50 and now Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) needed 56 runs of 36 balls.
The next over was good for SRH as they managed to get 13 runs off this over. Finally, Chahal managed to get Bairstow out and RCB was in control of the match.
Chahal also took the wicket of Vijay Shankar. Dube got the wicket of Garg and now, SRH needed 29 runs of 18 balls.
The next wicket was of Abhishek and this was a runout. This was followed by the wicket of Rashid Khan.
Finally, Mitchell March was out for a duck and limped out of the ground.
This match was now a cake walk for RCB.
This was an exciting match and really bad luck for SRH.
