IPL 2020, RCB vs RR Day 15

IPL 2020, RCB vs RR Day 15

The IPL tournament of the 3rd October 2020 was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). RCB won the match and this is the 3rd match they managed to win in this tournament. The results led the team to the top of the point table.

Virat Kohli, the captain, roared back to form and was leading from the front. The 50 runs made by the captain were very important for this tournament. Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg-spinner, managed to keep The RR team to a limited 154/6.

A youngster whose stocks continue to rise was of great help to Kohli. Devdutt Padikkal finished his third ‘fifty’ in four matches. Both these batsmen put 99 runs on the board after RCB lost the wicket of Aaron Finch. Padikkal needed only 34 balls to make his fifty runs. He was bowled by Jofra Archer, but not before hitting some praiseworthy shots.

Padikkal has jumped to fourth place in the IPL2020’s list of the highest run-getters. You can safely say that Padikkal is the ‘find’ of this season of the IPL. After the match, Kohli, the winning captain, revealed his thoughts about Padikkal.  He explained that this youngster had a special talent as he had balance, reach, and also a great eye. It was difficult for the bowlers to continue bowling the same lengths and lines against a leftie. He batted very clean shots and there was no way you felt he was taking any risks.

Kohli also added that he had a talk with Padikkal and suggested to build an innings. He could carry on from 40 to 65 runs and that was what the team needed.

Kohli was extremely happy to see some boxes getting ticked away though the teams have been playing under testing conditions. Abu Dhabi is very hot at this time of the year.

Kohli was seen struggling for points in the initial matches but this match saw him come back to form with a bang. RCB has 6 points from 4 matches. Kohli also said the good show of his teammates helped him come out of the lean patch he was facing. Though it was a bit warm, but compared to Dubai, the breeze seemed to be a luxury for the players. Dubai was not only hot but also humid and thus, uncomfortable.

He also mentioned that he loves the game and at the same time hated it, too. Bad form is to be understood but when the team is performing well you get time to get back into form.

Stats that Mattered:

  1. Rajpoot was one wicket away from 100 T20 scalps
  2. Jos Buttler’s strike, since 2018, of 157 strike rate is the highest among all the openers who have managed to score 500 runs.
  3. In the last ten win’s of the RCB, de Villiers has eight of the half-centuries and was unbeaten in five of these.

To summarize the match, it was a tough day but a fair match between two good teams and a fair win for the RCB.
