Health Tips for 2020

Most of us have made New Year resolutions at the beginning of the year. Has anyone managed to make a resolution to be healthy with health tips?  This is a rare chance. The times have changed and it is all the more important to ensure good health. It is never too late to make your resolution. Here are few health tips that can be of a great help to you.

  1. Your Diet needs to be Healthy:

Include all types of foods in your daily diet. This needs to be whole grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables. Try eating more of salads and fruits, especially when you feel hunger pangs in-between meals. All the snacks available these days can only ruin your health. You need to include at least 5 portions of vegetables and fruits in your daily diet. Make sure to choose seasonal fruits and vegetables as these can be most beneficial.

  1. Reduce Harmful Fats:

The fats that you consume have to be less than 30% of the total intake for energy. You can maintain a healthy weight with this. There is no unnecessary gain of weight. It is advisable to choose unsaturated fats instead of trans-fats or saturated fats. According to the World health Organization, for good health you need to reduce the saturated fats to less than 10%.

The healthy unsaturated fats are found in avocado, nuts, fish, canola and soybeans.

  1. Consume Less of Sugar and Salt:

Salt contains sodium and excess intake of sodium can lead to heart problems or even stroke. Reducing the intake of salt to only 5g per day can be fine for your health. Choose snacks with low-sodium content and keep a distance from salty snacks.

Excessive consumption of sugar leads to a weight gain considered unhealthy. This can also be the cause of tooth decay. The total intake of sugar for the required energy is 12 teaspoons or 50g for an adult as advised by the WHO.

  1. Stay Away from Smoking:

‘Smoking kills’ is one popular saying and this is true. Smoking can lead to cancer, lung disease and also stroke. It is never too late to quit. Stub out that cigarette and keep fit.

  1. Exercise:

If you are not into exercise, start now. You need to be active to be fit. You can choose an exercise of your choice. This can be joining the gym or even going for a walk every day. Make sure you choose an exercise that you enjoy. This can work as a motivation factor.

  1. Stay Dehydrated:

Stay well hydrated. Your body needs a lot of water to remain healthy. This helps in flushing out the harmful toxins. You need to drink plain and filtered water and not all those sodas or aerated drinks you are addicted to.

Regular check-ups are important as this can help you keeping a check on your health. These can help diagnosing problems before they get serious.  There is a little effort required in keeping good health but it is definitely worth the trouble.
