Against the DC on Friday, Jaiswal played his longest stint in an IPL. His 34 off 36 was nudging the ball around, feebly punctuated with slogs across-the-line. This sucked the momentum out of the chase of RR. The shot selection of Jaiswal suggested that his role was to anchor the innings and let the others around him go for the shots. It is understood that anchoring a chase that requires nine runs per over is not possible wit a strike-rate that is barely touching hundred. Steven Smith stated that though Jaiswal was trying hard to get on with things. He was unable to. He added that he was very young and had played a few games and thus eill take time to get a holding on the match.
The odds were working against Jaiswal as he was a part of the weaker line-up in the IPL2020. The bass was gripping at the surface, which means that the pitch was not typical Sharjah wicket.
IPL is considered to be competitive ruthlessly and at the same time is one place where you have a good amount of talent.
Steve Smith, the captain of RR stated that they were not playing well and not executing when the pressure was on. This is no way you can win any game. He admitted that the bowlers had done a good job even though the wicket was not as good. They gave away around 10 to 15 runs due to their sloppiness. He added that it was important for them to remain positive and make sure they are able to turn around things quickly. He also admitted that he was not batting up to the mark and even Stokes did not have a lot of practice.
ShimronHetmeyer, on the other hand, stated that he had worked hard on his catching techniques. He added that they are not planning a lot but taking one game at a time.
Delhi registered their 5th win in 6 games and managed to jump to the top in the ratings.
