Chennai Super kings

The match played on 29th October 2020 was the 49th match of the IPL2020 tournament played between Chennai super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR).

Finally, CSK team managed a win with RavindraJadeja’s 31 runs off 11 balls after Ruturaj Gaikwad had scored 72 runs. This worked out to be a 6 wicket win against the KKR team for the CSK team.

This win of the CSK got them 2 points that are really valuable, but are almost last at the point table with 10 points in 13 games.

This tournament of the IPL2020 has not worked in accordance to the plan of the CSK team but Jadeja’s game in yesterday’s match announced his arrival. This contest between the KKR and the CSK teams seemed to be a little twisted, but changed the game for the CSK when Jadeja came in to bat. The team needed 7 runs from the last 2 balls. Jadeja was cool and composed and swatted the last two balls for 2 consecutive sixes.

As known, this win came a wee bit late for the CSK team to qualify, but definitely made a dent in the chances of the KKR team. There are chances that the KKR team might make it but need some wins in the other matches they play.

The KKR team had put a competitive score of 172 runs on the board for the CSK team to chase. NitishRane, who started slowly, managed to finish with a number of boundaries and made 81 runs of 61 balls. This team could push the score to more than 170 only because of Dinesh Karthik, who was not out on 21 runs off 10 balls.

In reply to this, the CSK team started slowly. The most well played shots were made by Gaikwad. He had a second wicket partnership with Ambati Rayudu who scored 38 runs in 20 balls with his aggressive batting. The CSK team went from 118 runs for 1 wicket to 140 runs for 4 wickets. Jadeja, who came at No. 6, managed to finish the game, ensuring a win for the CSK team.

Rana’s stop and start:

Shubham Gill and Rana were at the 2 ends and you saw Gill hitting a boundary on the very first ball. Rana was seen struggling to find the gaps. At one point, Gill was on 23 runs in 13 balls, while Rana was only on 6 runs off 16 balls.

In the 6th over, Rana came to form and hit a six and 2 fours. This gave the innings the required surge.

After the powerplay, Rana was not able to find the boundary but was not bogged down. He kept playing in a steady manner but was definitely more aggressive against the spinners as compared to the pacers.

In this match of the IPL2020, Dhoni fell to the bowling of Varun Chakravarthy for the second time in the tournament. Gaikwad also fell, bowled by Cummins and the match was left to Sam Curran and Jadeja.
